A sturdy yet elegant sterling box, with cedar wood made by Alfredo Sciarrotta for Black, Starr and Gorham. Sciarrotta was an Italian-American silversmith who produced both modernist and at the time contemporary pieces, under his own label and for prestigious brands across the globe.

In this particular case the piece is co-signed Black, Starr and Gorham, one of America's leading high end jewelers. Only known as Black, Starr and Gorham for a few decades, it narrows down the age of this piece.

With soft curves and a rope motif underneath the upper rim, it appears soft like an upholstered ottoman. Sitting on four spherical feet, and weighing over a third of a kilo, its a compact yet hefty piece of fine craftsmanship.

Initially intended for cigarettes or cigarillos, it would now make a perfect box for jewelry, collectibles, smokes or anything within the dimensions provided below.

Engraved CJS on the lid, and a long alphanumeric code on the bottom, and patina all over, it is a beautifully aged piece bearing unknown provenance. Nothing is more alluring than the combination of beauty and mystery.
