A lovely antique French cheroot tip made of amber and 18k gold. Essentially a larger version of the cigarette tis seen on Frank Zappa’s Smoke ‘em if You Got ‘em album.

Cheroots are cigars originating in Myanmar and India, first gaining popularity in Europe in the mid 19th century. Many individuals indulged in tobacco consumption, much like today, but wanted to accessorize and enhance their experience.

Cheroot tips were designed with these desires in mind. Functionally they cooled the smoke slightly, and gave relief to the tar or resin that may come out the end of the smoke. Aesthetically they could be found in all manor of design, material, construction. Each one slightly more unique than the last. Cheroots are no longer popular in Europe and the US, but some may say their modern counterpart the Backwoods is still going strong.

In the original box, and in stunning conditions it has been used, but likely only a handful of times. There is only 1 small spot on the mouthpiece with an abrasion, and the french eagle hallmark representing 18 Karat gold is still crisp and clear.

Sold for its collectibility and uniqueness, but still seemingly perfectly functional, it would be a great addition to any smoker or tobacciana enthusiasts collection.
