Revere Silver Co. Sterling Shell Dish
Many sterling flatware sets contained dishes and platters to hold nuts, candy or bonbons. This dish was likely a candy or nut dish accompanied by other dishes of similar size to be placed on a tables before hors d'oeuvres for light snacking before or with a drink.
This dish was likely from a nautical, or more specifically, a shell themed set. This set may have included shell shaped serving trays, nautical cutlery, or serving utensils with shell shaped handles.
Not part of a set, it works quite well with an ocean themed interior, or one sporting white metal hardware and sweeping curves.
Produced by Revere Silver Co., it is another example produced by a popular 20th century American silversmith, thats still useful and aesthetic today.
The interior is polished, and does contain a few blemishes, while the back is unpolished and sporting a warm patina. A great jewelry dish for the nightstand or dresser, it fits rings and chains quite well while displaying them beautifully.
As always please refer to the dimensions below to ensure it will fit whatever it is you’d like to use it for.
